Infection Prevention and Control (IPC)

Infection prevention and control (IPC) is well established as a method to reduce TB and other respiratory diseases. Effective IPC reduces exposure to infectious diseases in health care facilities, workplaces, social settings, public transport as well as communities and households.

At KNCV, we are working to further integrate IPC for TB with IPC for other respiratory illnesses. We aim to engage communities and develop models so that they can advocate for and to implement infection prevention and control in their own communities.

In enclosed environments (such as prisons), people deprived of liberty are particularly vulnerable to TB and respiratory infections. We are therefore working to re-enforce approaches to IPC for TB and for other respiratory infections in such settings, particularly approaches that are led by people deprived of liberty.
