Webinar Re-Cap: Building Stronger Health Systems in Sub-Saharan Africa

During World TB Week, on March 26, we conducted the webinar "Building Stronger Health Systems in Sub-Saharan Africa: Patient-Centered Care and Multi-Disease Integration".

Over the course of several weeks, KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation planned the webinar "Building Stronger Health Systems in Sub-Saharan Africa: Patient-Centered Care and Multi-Disease Integration". The webinar was finally conducted during this year's #WorldTBWeek.

This webinar aimed to bring together program leads and experts in the field of tuberculosis (TB) and other critical infectious diseases such as HIV and Mpox. The session served as a knowledge exchange platform and provided a learning opportunity on how the multi-disease testing integration has been carried out in peer countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and how patients can benefit from this approach.

The session was attended by over 110 participants and included the following speakers:

  • Introduction and moderation by Jerod Scholten (KNCV)
  • Opening words by Mustapha Gidado (KNCV) and Obert Kachuwaire (the Global Fund)
  • Setting the stage with WHO's guidelines on multi-disease testing or integrated testing by Jean Dieu Iragena (WHO AFRO)
  • Democratic Republic of Congo's experience for Mpox response by Justin Kinziangu Mawina (Ministere de la Santé Publique DRC)
  • Best practices in addressing public health issues using GeneXpert devices in Uganda beyond TB by Moses Joloba (Makerere University)
  • From Blackouts to Bright Futures: Shared Pathways to Reliable Healthcare Power Across Nigeria by Christopher Ehimanre (KNCV Branch Office Nigeria)
