Strengthening Active Drug Safety Monitoring and Management (aDSM) in DR-TB care: Building resilient and sustainable safety monitoring systems
KNCV is hosting an opportunity to explore practical experiences, lessons learned, and innovative approaches to advancing DR-TB prevention, diagnosis and access.
28 of October, 2026
This webinar is part of the Unitaid-funded project ASCENT DR-TB led by KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation.

The introduction of new and improved treatment regimens for drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB), including BPaL and BPaLM, brings important opportunities for people affected by DR-TB. Ensuring the safety of these treatments, however, requires strong systems to identify, manage and report adverse events throughout care.
Under the Unitaid-funded ASCENT DR-TB project, active Drug Safety Monitoring and Management (aDSM) has been a key intervention supporting the safe implementation of new DR-TB treatment regimens. ASCENT has worked to strengthen healthcare worker capacity through training and mentorship, improve adverse event detection, management and reporting, strengthen pharmacovigilance systems, and foster collaboration between TB programs and regulatory authorities.
Effective safety monitoring goes beyond health systems. ASCENT DR-TB has also promoted community engagement in treatment safety monitoring, supporting people with TB and communities to play an active role in identifying and reporting adverse events.
This webinar offered participants an opportunity to learn from practical experiences across different settings and explore how policy support, capacity strengthening, community engagement, multisectoral collaboration and market-shaping approaches can contribute to better TB prevention, diagnosis and care.
