A poem about tuberculosis: 'The silent battles you fought'
This poem was written by Kinjal Sanghavi, a talented poetess from India. One of her close friends fell ill with tuberculosis (TB). As a result, Kinjal has seen up close how destructive this disease is. She wrote this poem to reach out to those currently struggling with TB and give them hope. Thank you Kinjal, for letting us share your work.
The silent battles you foughtThere were series of hardshipsYet you chose to hang in thereThere were plenty of sleepless nightsYet you pretended to be lively and energeticThere were many toxic people who gave you emotional stressYet you didn't lose an ounce of your courageThere were new challenges with each sunriseYet you tried your best to retain your beautiful smileThere were more heartbreaks than ever expectedYet you continued being optimisticThere were tears that longed to secure their place in your eyesYet you maintained you composureThere was helplessness that choked you from beneathYet you didn't let your will power to fadeThere were times when you were on the verge of breaking down Yet you remained strong in that vulnerable situationThere was a period when nothing was going your wayYet you pushed yourself with small efforts and stayed motivatedAmid the smog of negativity, thunderstorm of nuisance and cyclone of nervousnessYou fought the silent battles fiercely and fearlessly - Kinjal Sanghavi *Picture has no relation to Kinjal Sanghavi
