Milestone achieved: KNCV Country Office Tanzania Registered as a National Entity

KNCV Global Office congratulates the team in Tanzania for the recent registration of KNCV Tanzania Country Office as national entity.

We are proud to share a major achievement in our ongoing commitment to strengthen locally led- and owned- initiatives, the KNCV Tanzania Country Office is now officially registered as a national entity.

This milestone is the result of more than six months of dedicated effort, perseverance, and collaboration. Navigating the intricate landscape of legal, bureaucratic, and regulatory processes, the team at the Tanzania office has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to establishing a strong foundation for local leadership and long-term impact.

In 2023, the best estimate of the total number of deaths caused by TB suggested that the 2025 milestone of the WHO End TB Strategy (a 75% reduction by 2025, compared with 2015) was close to being reached in six high TB burden countries: Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania and Zambia.

Global TB Report 2024 (WHO)

The formal registration of the KNCV Tanzania Country Office reflects our broader vision to support country-based organizations in gaining full ownership of their national tuberculosis (TB) response. We believe that empowering local institutions, building their capacity, and supporting their independence are critical to achieving sustainable progress toward the local and global End TB Strategy.

According to the latest WHO Global TB Report (2024), Tanzania is close to reach the TB incidence rate target as set out in the 2025 milestones of the End TB Strategy. As a nationally recognized entity, the KNCV Tanzania Country Office will now have greater flexibility, visibility, and authority to engage with national interest-holders, mobilize resources, and lead context-specific interventions. This is a powerful step forward in fulfilling our shared goal of a world free of TB, driven by those closest to the challenge.
