In Memoriam: Actor and KNCV Ambassador Peter Faber (1943 - 2026)

It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Peter Faber. For many years, he was a dedicated ambassador for KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation. His commitment to the fight against tuberculosis came straight from the heart: as a child, he contracted tuberculosis himself and knew from personal experience the impact the disease can have. That is why he worked tirelessly to raise awareness of tuberculosis and to help break the stigma surrounding the disease.

Peter was much more than a familiar face and a gifted actor. He used his public profile to inspire people to take action, spoke openly about his own experiences, and played a prominent role in KNCV's work, particularly between 2007 and 2015. With his warmth, humour and genuine commitment, he brought the story behind tuberculosis closer to the public. He helped raise awareness that tuberculosis is not a disease of the past, as it is often perceived in the Netherlands, but a global health challenge. Even today, tuberculosis remains the world's deadliest infectious disease, unnecessarily claiming millions of lives every year.

As an actor, Peter was known for his versatility and his ability to bring real people and genuine emotions to life. That same humanity also characterised his work for KNCV. He believed in the power of personal stories and in the opportunities that every person deserves. This was also reflected in his longstanding commitment to supporting young people, a cause to which he devoted himself with the same passion as his work in the fight against tuberculosis.

We are deeply grateful for Peter's many years of dedication, his inspiring ambassadorship and his warm personality. We will remember his voice, his passion and his unwavering commitment to a world free of tuberculosis.
