KNCV Tanzania: Branch Office to close as new independent entity emerges
After a decade of dedicated work in the fight against infectious diseases, the KNCV Branch Office in Tanzania will officially close its doors on 30 June 2025.

After a decade of dedicated work in the fight against infectious diseases, the KNCV Branch Office in Tanzania will officially close its doors on 30 June 2025. Based in Dar es Salaam, this office has played a key role in supporting national health efforts and delivering impactful programs in collaboration with local and international partners.
As the office prepares to conclude its operations as a KNCV Branch Office, a small but committed team remains: Lillian Mtei, Country Representative Officer, and DonoDigna Sumari, Financial Officer. Their leadership and dedication have been instrumental in ensuring a smooth transition during this closing phase.
To support this process, Amanda Garcia Alonso (Grant Administrator) and Katja Lumelova (Grant Manager) from the KNCV Global Office recently traveled to Tanzania. Their visit focused on transitioning the Dream Fund Project “No More Pandemics” agreement with the local implementing partner, NIMRI, who will be reporting directly to the KNCV Global as their project activities are set to continue through the end of the year.

While two smaller projects will be completing their activities in the next month as well, the KNCV Branch Office is on schedule to fully wind down by the end of June. As part of the closure, KNCV has formally recognized Lillian and Dono for their significant dedication with certificates of successful contribution.

Looking to the future, it is inspiring to see the emergence of a new locally registered NGO formed by former KNCV Branch Office Tanzania colleagues. The organization was also named KNCV, with the acronym standing for Knowledge, Networking and Care Ventures – Tanzania. A recent meeting and lunch with some of the new NGO’s members and KNCV Global Office representatives offered an opportunity to discuss their vision and explore potential collaborations. This reflects the enduring legacy and continued commitment of local professionals to ending TB, strengthening the local response to infectious diseases and public health threats.
Through the newly established national entity, at KNCV Global Office we remain committed to collaborating and supporting the work that is done in-country, by the country and for the country. Currently, we are overseeing the implementation of innovations in the field of diagnostics and TB preventive treatment (TPT) in Tanzania.
Today, we celebrate a decade of partnership, resilience, and progress, and look ahead with hope to the work that continues in new forms.
